The Border Prayer Network was launched in February 1999 by
Laurraine Huffman, with a vision to see the El Paso–Juarez–Las Cruces borderland and then the entire U.S.—Mexico border ignited with revival fires and transformed for the Glory of God. Prayer Leaders from the region and California, New Mexico, and Texas listened to the vision of reaching the Border Area for Jesus Christ. As a prophetic act, we took flags of the U.S. and Mexico, and tied them together, praying prayers of repentance and inviting the Lord to put us together for His purposes. |
 |
In the year 2000, 120 churches in the El Paso–Juarez–Las Cruces Region signed up to participate in the Wall of Prayer effort which lasted for 4 months from 1 September 2000 to 31 December 2000. On 13 January 2001, pastors from El Paso crossed over the Bridge of the Americas to meet with the pastors from Ciudad Juarez. At this
bi-national service, pastors signed an agreement to work together to reach the Lost for Christ. The gates at the Chamizal National Park (on the Ciudad Juarez side), were opened for Jesus, the King of Glory to come and build His Kingdom here.
Border Prayer Network came out of the ministry of El Paso for Jesus, where
Laurraine was the Citywide Prayer Coordinator for Intercessors for Jesus International since 1993. Before that, she led a little prayer group with the primary purpose of praying for their pastor and their church and did this for 5 years starting in 1989. The prayer workshop "Called to Pray, Praying for your Pastor and Church", came out of this experience.
Laurraine, who is a graduate of SMU in Dallas, Texas, has lived with
her husband Randy in El Paso since 1974. They are members of First Baptist
Church of El Paso, where Randy serves as a Deacon. They are parents of 2 grown children, Ashley and Matthew.
